Clear Aligners
We are a Certified Provider of Clear Aligner Therapy
Consider clear aligner treatment to get the beautiful straight teeth you've always wanted — without braces! A consultation with Dr. Howell can determine if clear aligners are the right treatment for you.
What is it?
Clear aligner therapy uses a series of virtually invisible, removable, and comfortable aligners that allow you to smile more during treatment as well as after. Clear aligners are made with 3D computer imaging technology and have been proven effective. Dr. Howell has incorporated a 3D scanner and 3D printer into our office so our patients no longer have to deal with uncomfortable impressions. The 3D scanner is much easier on patients, produces a much more accurate resin model of the teeth, and allows for a better fitting aligner. Our scanner will even produce a simulation of what the teeth will look like after finishing orthodontic treatment so patients can visualize the outcome of their beautiful smile before they even start! At Howell Orthodontics, we are able to use previously made resin models or scans to create a new retainer if yours is lost or broken - patients may not even need to come in for an appointment! Now that's convenient!
Why would I want it?
Not only are the aligners virtually invisible, they are removable, so you can eat and drink what you want while in treatment. Plus, brushing and flossing are no problem! They are more comfortable than traditional braces, with no metal or wires, which also usually means you spend less time in your doctor's office for adjustments. Clear aligner therapy also allows you to view your own virtual treatment plan when you start so you can see how your straight teeth will look when your treatment is complete.
How does it work?
You wear each set of aligners for 1-3 weeks each, removing them only to eat, drink, brush, and floss. As you replace each aligner with the next in the series, your teeth will move — little by little, week by week — until they have straightened to their final positions. You'll visit us about once every eight to twelve weeks to ensure that your treatment is progressing as planned. Total treatment time averages 9 to 18 months but will vary from case to case. However, if your case is less severe, you may qualify for express treatment which can be completed in only 5-14 aligners!
